RG4N Town Hall Meeting
This meeting is very important. We will discuss our future direction and efforts, possible plans for appealing our legal ruling, and the likely impact of our efforts on the city elections in May.
This past year, we made it clear that the neighborhoods oppose the Lincoln Property Company plan for Northcross Mall and the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Nearly twelve months ago we asked local residents, "Do you support or oppose building a Wal-Mart Supercenter at Northcross?" 2,759 respondents out of 3,239 said they opposed it. That's 85.18% who said, "No" to the Lincoln Property plan!
How do you feel about it today? Come to our meeting and let us know.
Throughout 2007, we pursued a coordinated effort to stop the development, including our lawsuit. We may not have had the ruling we wanted, but we have other strategies to continue pursuing, which we will discuss.
In the court of public opinion, Wal-Mart, Lincoln and the City of Austin have been losing since Day One, and it is up to each and every one of us to work together to keep pressing our case.
Lastly, we have gone toe-to-toe against a determined developer and the world's largest retailer since November 2006, and we should be very proud of all we've done.
There is more we can—and will—do.
