It Was Arms Everywhere

We did it! This morning, thousands of Austinites braved the brisk winter weather to join Arms Around Northcross. The blog team hasn't received the official count yet, but we can report that we successfully formed a human chain that completely encircled the Northcross property.
The Austin Chronicle hurried back from the event and posted to their blog:
Wow, I really didn't think they could pull off, but they did so with ease: Responsible Growth for Northcross quite easily rounded up the needed people to completely surround Northcross Mall—most of them wearing red—and deliver the message to Lincoln Property that neighbors do not want a Wal-Mart as part of the redevelopment of the moribund mall. And not just around the mall itself, but around the entire block—an unbroken chain of people lining Anderson, Burnet, and Northcross Drive.
Next up, the benefit concert this afternoon. Also, support local businesses all day long.
