It could all be over in 10 minutes.

Imagine it. It is possible.

The founding fathers of our country guaranteed the right to assemble peaceably in the Bill of Rights. It’s right there in the First Amendment.

One of the reasons they did so was because they knew the undeniable truth that there is strength in numbers. They knew that when men and women gather together for a cause, they become empowered. Remember the energy in the room at our Jan. 31 meeting? There you go.

Abraham Lincoln said, “With public sentiment, nothing can fail. Without it, nothing can succeed.”

(It’s interesting that the wisdom of Honest Abe is plenty scarce in a company using his most respectable name to conduct business in such an unthinking, disreputable manner.)

A national news program contacted us on Tuesday. They wanted to get details about our fight and may do a story including us. The national spotlight can be shone on Wal-Mart, Lincoln and the City Council if we exert our power and do what we have every right to do: Rally. Gather. Assemble. Fight.

Come together, Austin. On Feb. 10, 2007. At 10 AM. Form a human chain of thousands around Northcross. Stand with 10 of your friends for 10 minutes.

It could be the tipping point. We have the power.

Tell everyone to come. Wear red. Load your car. Stand united. Clasp hands. Show Lincoln Property Company and Wal-Mart that they do not have the support of the people.

We can turn out by the thousands. When we do, it will then be loud and clear that we, the people, have spoken, and that Northcross is destined to become Wal-Mart and Lincoln’s sad Waterloo. Without the public’s sentiment, they should surrender immediately or face the music later. Because we're just getting started, and we're not going anywhere.
