Where's Lincoln?

If you came to our community meeting on Wednesday evening, January 31, 2007, you were treated to empowering news about our lawsuit, our demonstration, our boycott and so much more. Thank you for coming out! Thanks also to the true professionals in the Austin media that covered us today.

Months ago, you were told that what Dallas-based Lincoln Property Company wants to do was a done deal. It is not at all a done deal!

This evening, Wal-Mart's Keith Morris, Director of Public Affairs-Southwest Region, said that his company is living up to the 60 day moratorium. (Oh, you mean those push-poll phone calls?)

Richard Suttle, lawyer for Wal-Mart, told KVUE this evening that Wal-Mart would consider building a smaller store. (Crickets... Wind...)

Don't fall for any of it.

Where is Lincoln Property Company in this discussion? "No comment" is all they tell the press. That may work in Dallas, but it is completely unacceptable to the citizens of Austin.

Where is the City Council? We, the citizens, will stand behind you if you stand up for us!

Does anyone honestly think that Lincoln/Wal-Mart will sue the capital city of Texas to force the building of what they want to build, if our leaders tell them that the people have spoken? Like they need that kind of bad press.

I can hardly wait until Feb. 10, 2007. "Arms Around Northcross", our city-wide boycott of Wal-Mart stores, our fundraiser, and more.

A national news program contacted us on Tuesday. They wanted to get details about our fight and may do a story about us. The national spotlight can be shone on Wal-Mart, Lincoln and the City Council if we exert our power, show up on Feb. 10th by the thousands, and do what we have every right to do: Fight back.
